ILC Diliman ILC Diliman holds workshop on Business and Feature-writing March 20, 2018 ILC Diliman Dir. Computer Laboratory Room 103 (ILC Diliman) — Interactive Learning Center (ILC) Diliman and other offices under OVCAA attended a business and feature-writing workshop last March 15, 2018. The workshop was held by ILC Diliman to help improve the skills of its staff (as well as those from other OVCAA offices). Mr. Marti Rodriguez facilitated the 3-hour workshop.  Mr. Rodriguez is an instructor from the College of Arts and Letters, and is a speech and visual communication specialist.  He is also currently ILC Diliman’s Program Development Associate (PDA) for Blended Learning and Teaching. “I think it’s apt that we had this training,” said Rodriguez. “More and more offices need to be aware that proper business writing is a must when writing letters or memos.” Business and feature-writing seminar workshop: “Write the Right Way: A Workshop in Business and Feature-Writing” Participants of the workshop doing a group activity. The workshop covered basic elements of business writing and fundamentals of news/feature writing. The twenty-one participants were grouped into four and were tasked to formulate (before and after lecture/discussion) business letters and news articles. Each group presented their outputs, and at the end of the workshop, they shared their learnings/takeaways.   “Creating a letter must only consist of important details and we should limit adding unnecessary information that confuses the addressee,” said Group Two.  Another group mentioned the value of using the “inverted triangle” (most important, other details, good-to-know) when writing letters and articles. With the success of this event, ILC Diliman commits to offer more advanced seminar-workshops on business and news/feature-writing, as well as on oral communications, presentation skills, and business conduct & ethics. ILC Diliman Holds Training on Basics of Teaching with UVLê 3

ILC Diliman ILC Diliman Holds Training on Basics of Teaching with UVLê 3 February 15, 2018 Interactive Learning Center,(ILC) Diliman – ILC Diliman conducted a Training/Workshop on Basics of Teaching with UVLê 3 last February 12, 2018, held at ILC Diliman Laboratory Rm. 103 for future classes. The Training on Basics of Teaching with UVLê 3 was lead by Mr. Michael Van Supranes and with the team Dir. Joseph Ryan Lansangan, Tristan Jake Alcantara, and John Mark Roco as his training assistants. It was the second batch of UP Faculty members who attended the Training on Basics of Teaching with UVLê 3 this 2018. Before the training started, each participant had their training course page created for them in UVLê 3. The course pages were used as their training page for the editing and setup of the activity resources and the training course page.  Mr. Michael Van Supranes discussed the features of UVLê under the basic teacher role and demonstrate its uses with the help of the training assistants. Some of the said features are: basic navigations, private files, messaging, course (editing/setup/formatting), and other activity resources like forum, assignment, choice (Poll), label, and file resources. Advanced features in the resource can be unlocked by upgrading to a full-teacher role. After the discussion and demonstration of UVLê 3 and its features, the participants showed an interest in using the system for their future classes.

ILC Diliman ILC Diliman Holds Basics of Teaching with UVLê 3 February 5, 2018 ILC Diliman conducted a seminar/workshop Training on Basics of Teaching with UVLê 3 for the UP faculty members last February 05, 2018 at the ILC Laboratory Room No.103.  In the training, Mr. Michael Van Supranes highlighted the features of the Basic Teacher role, as well as the advantages of UVLê 3 over social media platforms as Edtech like Facebook. For example,  in the assignment setting submission feature, Basic Teachers can set up assignment submission dates such as the start, due and cut-off dates. The training ran from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM, led by PDA Michael Van Supranes, with the assistance Dir. Joseph Ryan Lansangan, programmers Tristan Jake Alcantara and John Mark Roco, and creative arts specialist Melody Briola as the photographer.
