OVCAA Celebrates 2017 Year-End Party

ILC Diliman OVCAA Celebrates 2017 Year-End Party Events December 23, 2017 OVCAA, University of the Philippines, Diliman – OVCAA celebrated its year-end party last December 20, 2017, at the NEC Lounge A, as employees shared the year’s memorable learnings and plans for 2018. VC Evangeline C. Amor, in her opening remarks, emphasized the offices’ focus on staff development and in-house initiatives next year. The OVCAA staff were enjoined to attend at least one seminar and/or training annually for personal and professional growth. According to VC Amor, knowledge gained from these learning opportunities can be echoed to other staff members unable to attend due to limited resources.  The celebration also had an activity as the Office looked forward to the next year– the OVCAA employees filled-out their aspirations and goals. This part of the event was called, “SANA — Staff Aspirations for 2018.”OVCAA staff were asked to share their wishes regarding office and co-workers. Employees from the office, starting with Mrs. Wennie S. Moralejo of ILC Diliman, shared their learnings from the seminars they attended. One of which was the SMILE principle for government employees. The SMILE principle stands for S – Showtime, M – Malasakit, I – Intelligent, L – Love, E – Empathy to showcase quality public service through upholding these values Ms. Adeline V. Intervalo of OAT Diliman also shared her experiences from the LIFE Seminar she attended organized by OAT Diliman. The LIFE Seminar series aims to foster greater understanding and camaraderie among their staff. Another speaker was, Mr. Rene M. Villanueva of OVCAA. He shared his learnings from the Workshop on Building Utilities, Retrofits, and Management held in UP Los Baños, Laguna.  The two VPs Nestor G. Yunque and Elvira A. Zamora explained  that taking good care of University infrastructure is showing “malasakit para sa University.” Energy efficiency, and prompt utility repairs (e.g. leaky faucets), can also help the Office to achieve better operational efficiency. Prof. Ivan Benedict Nilo Cruz also gave a lecture on Energy Auditing, its importance, and how to undertake an energy audit. The other lectures are about best practices on air conditioning maintenance. Finally, Ms. Eleanor R. Robrigado of OVCAA shared her reflections on the seminar she attended on Chinese traditional medicine held last November at the Asian Center. She described several methods in traditional medicine like acupuncture, and Ventosa, among others. She advised OVCAA officemates to explore other medical traditions to achieve wellness. OVCAA Employees also participated in raffles and exchange gifts as well as games like Pass the Drawing, Balloon Walk, Lip Sync Battle, Jack En-Poy, and Chubby Bunny.

OVCAA Road to Wellness

ILC Diliman OVCAA Road to Wellness Events October 27, 2017 OVCAA with the participation of ILC Diliman had a successful opening of their health and wellness program last October 2017. The OVCAA Healthy Living and Wellness Program was conducted for the OVCAA employees. The program aims to teach the employees the benefits and/or advantages of having a good and healthy lifestyle, as well as for the employees to be aware of their current body weight and fat status.  The OVCAA wellness program was spearheaded by Prof. Gilda Uy and the members of the OVCAA Academic Personnel Committee. Ms. Wennie Moralejo, the Administrative Officer of ILC Diliman, lead a talk on the evaluation of body weight and fat. She discussed the ideal diet to maintain weight and how to monitor the weight gain and calories intake.  It was emphasized that awareness of healthy lifestyle is the key to a healthy individual, and that every healthy individual contributes to the efficiency and growth of an office.  Prior to the talk, employees were scanned using the Tanita digital scale for body weight and fat indices.   The College of Human Kinetics of UP Diliman also organized a seminar wherein they invited participants from other colleges/units to attend.  Tristan Jake Alcantara represented ILC Diliman in the “Gymnastics For All” which was held last October 16 at the CHK Gym Basketball Court. The seminar/workshop was facilitated by Prof. Tatsuo Araki Vice President of the FIG Gymnastics for All Committee.

ILC Diliman has 3 PDAs

ILC Diliman ILC Diliman has 3 PDAs Announcement October 11, 2017 OVCAA has renewed one existing and has appointed two new Project Development Associates (PDAs) to work with projects and programs of the Interactive Learning Center Diliman. Mr. Roy Vincent L. Canseco of the Department of Computer Science under the College of Engineering was designated as PDA for TED (Technology, Education, and Development). He will be assigned in major tasks related to UVLe and other ILC Diliman web services.  For this academic year, he will lead/help in the collaborative projects with OUR, UL, and other units handling (academic) information systems and/or geared towards teacher/student programs.  He will also serve as a resource person in seminar workshops related to EdTech, Innovative pedagogical strategies, course design and  blended instruction. Mr. Marti S. Rodriguez of the Department of Speech Communication and Theatre Arts under the College of Arts and Letters shall serve as PDA for BLT (Blended Learning and Teaching).  He will serve as a resource person in the development, evaluation, revision and/or recommendation of ILC Diliman projects related to blended learning and teaching and/or those that advance learning/teaching. For this academic year, he will lead/help in the study on approaches and practices in university teaching and learning. He shall also act as one of the subject matter expert in modern and/or effective pedagogy (theories, principles and applications/practices) and shall provide support in other ILC project, programs and services. On the other hand, Mr. Michael Van B. Supranes of the School of Statistics is renewed and will continue to serve as PDA for ETA (Education Technology Advancement).  He continues to lead/help in the review, promotion and development of the training and resources for UVLe and other ILC Diliman web services, as well as in the review and development of the different materials and resources related to the use of education technologies.  Mr. Supranes also serves as a subject matter expert and a resource person on the use of UVLe.
