ILC Diliman ILC Diliman Strategic Planning 2018 Events June 14, 2018 The Mountain House — Interactive Learning Center Diliman (ILC) had a strategic planning last June 11 – 12, 2018 at Brgy. Calawis, Antipolo City, Rizal. In the two-day event, Director Joseph Ryan Lansangan and the ILC team reviewed the ILC Diliman mission, vision and objectives (MVO) and KPIs to benchmark future efforts of the department. The ILC team was tasked to analyze the ILC Diliman current MVO alignment with UP, UPD and OVCAA mission, vision and objective (MVO), and also map out strategies(emergent and tactical goals) and activities for the upcoming academic year and identify short, medium, and long term goals. On day one, each group presented their reports and initial assessments. Most of the teams felt that the MVOs were aligned with the University mandate to its supporting departments. “There’s nothing to change in the MVO as I think we are aligned with learning and the development thereof.” one group analyzed. Each group presented well their reports and contribute in company MVO and goals. Finally, the ILC team had their individual ROWS analysis and had a one-on-one consultation with Director Joseph Ryan Lansangan to better alignment with individual tasks. “It’s important that we show our unique role to assist the University.” he said. As the team moving forward the ILC team were expected to level up compared from its previous year for the upcoming academic year.

ILC Diliman ILC Diliman attended the first MoodleMoot Philippines 2018 Events April 30, 2018 The Interactive Learning Center (ILC) Diliman attended the MoodleMoot 2018 conference held at The Manila Hotel last April 26 – 27, 2018. Dir. Joseph Ryan Lansangan, Mr. Dawn Benigno (system administrator), Mr. Tristan Jake Alcantara (programmer), Mr. John Mark Roco (programmer), and Asst. Prof. Michael Van Supranes (PDA for ETA) participated as delegates. MoodleMoot Philippines 2018 (#MootPH18) was the first moodlemoot conference held in the Philippines. It was two-day conference where Moodle experts from local and international companies and institutions gathered together to share valuable experiences and knowledge about education in the online sphere. The conference had multiple plenary sessions and break-out sessions spread over the two days. It was hosted by Nephila Web Technology Inc, a Moodle partner. In one of the plenary sessions during the first day, Mr. Stuart Mealor, Managing Director of HRDNZ, shared his knowledge and insights about the recent developments of Moodle. He also encouraged the participants to ask help from experts and be active in the Moodle community especially for developers and administrators. Mr. Martin Dougiamas presentation: “Moodle goals for the future” The speakers in breakout sessions shared their research papers, experiences, and implementation of moodle. Some of these were entitled: “Ten things people get wrong with moodle”, “Moodle gamification – tools and techniques”, and “Level up! Raising LMS effectivity & engagement through gamification”. Most of them came from the industry and the education sector. The following day during the plenary sessions, Mr. Martin Dougiamas (Moodle founder and CEO) talked about his mission to improve and expand the Moodle community. According to him, our teachers are the best agents for change, “Empowering educators to improve our world,” he said. Mr. Dougiamas also shared his experiences when he started developing Moodle as it grows to become one of the widely used learning platform across the globe. The speakers shared their research paper and experiences in using Moodle during the second breakout session on Day two. The ILC delegates had a short meeting after the conference. Based on the data from the breakout sessions, the team reflected how UVLe blended teaching and digital strategies was implemented in the University. Various features were collected from the implementation of Moodle partners, such as smart notification that provides feedback and instructions to the teachers and students, availability to convert resources into different formats, integration of interactive presentations and videos, and a new mobile friendly application. OVCAA Celebrates 2017 Year-End Party

ILC Diliman OVCAA Celebrates 2017 Year-End Party Events December 23, 2017 OVCAA, University of the Philippines, Diliman – OVCAA celebrated its year-end party last December 20, 2017, at the NEC Lounge A, as employees shared the year’s memorable learnings and plans for 2018. VC Evangeline C. Amor, in her opening remarks, emphasized the offices’ focus on staff development and in-house initiatives next year. The OVCAA staff were enjoined to attend at least one seminar and/or training annually for personal and professional growth. According to VC Amor, knowledge gained from these learning opportunities can be echoed to other staff members unable to attend due to limited resources.  The celebration also had an activity as the Office looked forward to the next year– the OVCAA employees filled-out their aspirations and goals. This part of the event was called, “SANA — Staff Aspirations for 2018.”OVCAA staff were asked to share their wishes regarding office and co-workers. Employees from the office, starting with Mrs. Wennie S. Moralejo of ILC Diliman, shared their learnings from the seminars they attended. One of which was the SMILE principle for government employees. The SMILE principle stands for S – Showtime, M – Malasakit, I – Intelligent, L – Love, E – Empathy to showcase quality public service through upholding these values Ms. Adeline V. Intervalo of OAT Diliman also shared her experiences from the LIFE Seminar she attended organized by OAT Diliman. The LIFE Seminar series aims to foster greater understanding and camaraderie among their staff. Another speaker was, Mr. Rene M. Villanueva of OVCAA. He shared his learnings from the Workshop on Building Utilities, Retrofits, and Management held in UP Los Baños, Laguna.  The two VPs Nestor G. Yunque and Elvira A. Zamora explained  that taking good care of University infrastructure is showing “malasakit para sa University.” Energy efficiency, and prompt utility repairs (e.g. leaky faucets), can also help the Office to achieve better operational efficiency. Prof. Ivan Benedict Nilo Cruz also gave a lecture on Energy Auditing, its importance, and how to undertake an energy audit. The other lectures are about best practices on air conditioning maintenance. Finally, Ms. Eleanor R. Robrigado of OVCAA shared her reflections on the seminar she attended on Chinese traditional medicine held last November at the Asian Center. She described several methods in traditional medicine like acupuncture, and Ventosa, among others. She advised OVCAA officemates to explore other medical traditions to achieve wellness. OVCAA Employees also participated in raffles and exchange gifts as well as games like Pass the Drawing, Balloon Walk, Lip Sync Battle, Jack En-Poy, and Chubby Bunny.
