Basics of UVLe for New Faculty
- August 2, 2024

2nd TEC 2024 – Participants
The second Teaching Effectiveness Course (TEC) of the year was held on July 31, 2024, featuring an insightful session on the University Virtual Learning Environment (UVLe), the official learning management system (LMS) of the University of the Philippines. Organized by the Office for the Advancement of Teaching (OAT), the session focused on helping new faculty members navigate and utilize UVLê effectively in their teaching.
Dr. Adelson N. Chua, Training, Education, and Development PDA of the Interactive Learning Center (ILC) Diliman, served as the keynote speaker. He guided participants through the essential features of UVLê, including accessing the platform via DilNet and UP Mail, customizing user profiles, and integrating UP Mail for a more seamless and secure experience. These demonstrations made use of UVLe course templates specifically prepared by his team for this semester’s TEC.
The session also highlighted how UVLe empowers teachers through tools designed to support diverse teaching needs. Using the course templates, Dr. Chua demonstrated key functionalities under the basic teacher role such as CRS-UVLe integration, course page setup, and the creation of interactive learning modules. This semester’s TEC placed particular emphasis on exploring the different types of activities available in UVLe, especially in designing and configuring quizzes using the platform’s varied quiz types.
Dr. Chua was joined by ICT Associates Ms. Carrisse Michaela Serrano and Ms. Pauline Angel Carag, along with ICT Assistant Ms. Janine Aira Ribao, all from ILC Diliman. Their participation underscored the continued efforts of the ILC team in supporting faculty development and promoting the effective use of digital learning tools across the University.
