ILC Diliman Basics of Teaching with UVLe on July 19, 2016 Seminars or Workshop, UVLe July 22, 2016 ILC Diliman conducted a short training / seminar-workshop on Basics of Teaching with UVLê last July 19, 2016 at the DILC Computer Laboratory. The short training / seminar-workshop covered the basic features and how-to’s of UVLê (short for University Virtual Learning Environment), the university’s learning management system (LMS).  The seminar-workshop also highlighted the role of technology in student learning, particularly the why’s and advantages of using an LMS to engage student participation and enhance learning.  Mr. Michael Van Supranes, the PDA for EdTech Advancement, facilitated the seminar-workshop. The seminar-workshop had a different format compared to the previous UVLe training runs.  It w as partly delivered online, with training materials readily available to participants via a newly developed training course (in UVLe), and online consultations and follow-throughs were provided/encouraged even after the end of the training.

ILC Diliman ILC Diliman holds a Symposium on Interactive Learning and Innovative Teaching Events June 23, 2016 Last June 20, 2016, Interactive Learning Center (ILC) Diliman held the Symposium on Interactive Learning and Innovative Teaching: Modernizing Pedagogy through EdTech and Blended Learning.  The symposium was held at the NEC Audio Visual Room.  As the tenth event in the OVCAA’s Balangkas Symposium Series, the symposium aimed to present examples and best practices in modernizing pedagogy, highlighting the use of education technology (EdTech) and effective teaching and learning strategies.  The symposium also served as a venue to generate feedback that would help ILC Diliman and the administration, in general, in improving its EdTech resources and services as well as in identifying strategies for promoting the culture of innovative and collaborative teaching in the University. Different resource persons shared their ideas and experiences in effective pedagogical practices, as well as the strategies and challenges in making learning more engaging and interactive.  Dr. Joseph Ryan Lansangan, the Director of ILC Diliman, provided a review of the different programs and services of ILC Diliman.  Asst. Prof. John Eustaquio (of STAT) presented the highlights of their Academic Program Improvement (API) assessment study (with Dr. Erniel Barrios and Asst. Prof. Kevin Carl Santos, both also from STAT) on the use of UVLê.  Asst. Prof. Elenita Que (of CEduc) talked about the framework and tools for integrating technology in teaching and learning, while Assoc. Prof. Rainier Almazan (of CSWCD) shared his experiences, lessons and issues in the use of LMS for his classes.   Dr. Flaudette May Datuin (of CAL) gave insights about team-teaching with UVLê as the “seventh teacher” in a large-class course, and Asst. Prof. Regina Gochuico (of CAL) shared her experiences in using the flipped classroom pedagogy. Mr. Michael Van Supranes (of STAT) highlighted the value of student feedback on course design and redesign.    Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Dr. Benito M. Pacheco gave the welcome as well as the closing remarks.  Dr. CarlenePerpetua P. Arceo, Director of GE Center Diliman, was the symposium moderator.  A total of 52 participants from different UP Diliman colleges and other campuses and universities (i.e., UP Manila and Philippine Women’s University) attended the symposium.
