The first Teaching Effectiveness Course (TEC) of the year kicked off on February 1, 2024, with an insightful session on the University Virtual Learning Environment (UVLe), the University of the Philippines’ official learning management system (LMS). Organized by the Office for the Advancement of Teaching (OAT), the session featured Dr. Miguel Francisco M. Remolona, Director of the Interactive Learning Center (ILC) Diliman, as the keynote speaker.

Dr. Remolona introduced UVLê as more than just a digital extension of the classroom. He described it as a dynamic space where educators can streamline their teaching, engage students more effectively, and integrate technology seamlessly into their courses. He guided participants through essential features such as accessing UVLe via DilNet and UP Mail, customizing user profiles, and linking UP Mail for a more efficient and secure experience.

Going beyond the basics, Dr. Remolona demonstrated how UVLe empowers teachers with tools designed to meet their instructional needs. He walked the participants through key functionalities available under the basic teacher role, including CRS-UVLe integration, course page setup, and the creation of interactive learning modules. His hands-on approach made the platform’s capabilities more tangible, showing educators how to maximize UVLe for a smoother and more engaging teaching experience.

Dr. Remolona was assisted by Assistant Professor Adelson N. Chua, Training, Education, and Development PDA of ILC Diliman, together with ICT Associates Ms. Carrisse Michaela Serrano and Ms. Pauline Angel Carag, as well as ICT Assistant Ms. Janine Aira Ribao. Their collaboration ensured that participants received both practical guidance and technical support throughout the session.
